As people across the world are gearing up for a happening New Year’s celebration, LineageOS has a whole new reason to cut the cake and call the biggest party of the year: It turns one.
Not many saw it coming but when the ashes of CyanogenMod gave birth to LineageOS, it was truly a marvelous moment in history. Ever since, there has been no looking back for the team of LineageOS which has scaled new heights in just a year!
In its infant year alone, LineageOS team has grown exponentially and support 180 devices. With more than 700+ contributors and over 1.7 million users globally, LineageOS sure has a progressive number of takers. With LineageOS, users can anticipate their old devices like OnePlus One or Samsung Galaxy S3 to breathe even when official manufacturer support is over.
It’s hard to imagine where custom ROM would stand had it not been for CyanogenMod. Even though, every new release of Android offers matured software, custom ROMs like LineageOS will retain its place as long as developers and users retain the interest.
As the team is gearing up for Android Oreo release, it’s time we shook hands and appreciated the work LineageOS team has done and celebrate its glorious one year of existence. We wish it continues to power android devices and revive the dated ones.
